Want to learn to read faster?
If you have a lot to read in a short amount of time, try this site out. It helps you read a passage faster by presenting one word at a time for only a short interval. I don't know if the science behind it matches up (i.e., whether it will actually make you read faster) but its cool none the less.

Lost Letters
I found a website where people send in random notes they find in books, on the ground, in the supermarket etc. Some are funny, sad, happy, joyful, but above all they are random.

The Start of Random...
So, I recently discovered a website called Stumble (I know, I'm way behind the times... but better late than never right?) and my obsessive amount of stumbling has resulted in me finding some pretty amazing sites - from music to innovative high tech gadgets. After bombarding my friends inboxes for some time, I decided there must be another way - a better way - to share these amazing sites without all the random emailing. Hence... the creation of this blog. If you're interested in cognitive science, bizarre oddities, gadgets, science related news headlines, or music (among many yet to be determined - but no doubt cool - topics) stay tuned and be amazed!
Ill start this wonderful journey with my top 3 finds, so far.
1) 8 track (Music)
This is, by far, the best site I've come across for listening to music. The site slogan is "Handcrafted internet radio" which translates into: people you've never met create playlists of songs - that typically fall under a category such as 'music to relax to' or 'the best of some band name' that you can listen to. You can browse by music gendre or type in keywords describing how you feel, either way you'll find something and discover some new music along the way. The best part... its free! No sign up fees, or hidden costs. The downside: due to licensing issues, you are only permitted to skip a certain number of songs per hour. However, if you don't like what you hear... go to the next one. I guarantee you will find a playlist on there you will listen to over and over (and over if you're like me).
2) Eye Mouse (Gadget)
This find was random. The product: a computer mouse that goes in your eye! The site rightfully warns viewers that the product is ahead of its time, nevertheless... I think its simply genius! I will admit, there are a lot of flaws to the idea and contact itself and I probably won't have any desire to ever buy one, but it is very 'outside the box' technology! I'll let you read and judge for yourself. (If you click on their other products as well you may be pleasantly surprised!)
3) Puppywar (Procrastination Device)
If there are any students out there who are looking for something to do while procrastinating from writing that final paper or studying for an exam this site will do the trick. The goal is to rate cuteness of puppies and dogs, basically by pitting one dog against another 'Fashmash' style (Mark Zuckerburg ring a bell?). Anyway, it will help you burn through the better part of an afternoon. You're welcome :)
Until the next great find!
Cheers
